The reception is located at Astra Whale in Kabelvåg, Lofoten.

When can I check in? Astra Village & Astra Whale ?
Check-in is available from 3:00 PM on the day of arrival.
If you arrive after reception opening hours, you can use the key code provided.

Check-out is no later than 11:00 on the day of departure.
We ask all guests to respect the check-out time so that we can prepare the rooms and rorbuer for new guests and ensure the best possible experience for everyone.
The possibility of late check-out must be clarified with the reception.

Travel to Lofoten
Astra Village & Astra Whale is idyllically located by the pier in Kabelvåg – Lofoten’s oldest fishing village. With the Vestfjord on the outside, Kabelvåg harbor on the inside and the majestic Lofoten mountains rising straight up from the sea, the area offers spectacular views in all directions. Here you live centrally, within walking distance of the center of Kabelvåg and only a few minutes from Svolvær.

- Oslo – Bodø: approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes
- Bodø – Svolvær: approximately 20 minutes
- Bodø – Leknes: approximately 20 minutes
- Oslo – Evenes: approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes
From airport to Astra Village & Astra Whale :
Svolvær Airport – approximately 15 minutes by taxi or rental car.
Leknes Airport – approximately 1 hour by rental car or bus.
Evenes Airport – approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by rental car or bus.
Speedboat, Hurtigruten and ferry
- Bodø – Svolvær (fast boat): approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes
- Bodø – Svolvær (Hurtigruten): approximately 6 hours
- Bognes – Lødingen: approximately 50 minutes
- Melbu – Fiskebøl: approximately 25 minutes
- Skutvik – Svolvær: approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes (summer)
- Bodø – Moskenes: approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes
Bus and taxi
For bus routes, we recommend Reis Nordland.
Nordland Taxi offers transportation throughout Vågan municipality.
Is parking available for guests at Astra Village & Astra Whale ?
Yes, we offer free parking for guests staying with us.
We will show you the parking options upon check-in.
Do you have a charging station for electric cars?
Unfortunately, we do not have a charging station in the area.

Dining experiences
Do you have your own restaurant?
No, not at the moment.
We are working on plans to establish our own restaurant at Astra Village .

Do you serve breakfast?
No, we do not currently serve breakfast.
Our rorbuer and apartments on Astra Village have private, fully equipped kitchens. Guests at Astra Whale have access to our modern shared kitchen and cozy living areas.
Kabelvåg city center is just a few minutes' walk away and offers a grocery store, bakery and several pleasant dining options.

Rooms and facilities
What facilities do the fishermen's cabins and rooms have? Astra Village & Astra Whale ?
All our rorbuer and rooms have preserved their authentic historical character while maintaining a modern standard.
Facilities vary between units, but include:

Is cleaning included?
Yes, final cleaning upon departure is included in the price. If you would like new towels during your stay, this can be ordered through reception.
Is there free Wi-Fi in all rooms and rorbuer ?
Yes. We offer free, lightning-fast and stable fiber broadband in all units and common areas.
Can I upgrade my room or add extra services?
Yes. Upgrades and special accommodations can often be arranged by contacting the front desk.
We do our best to accommodate requests that make your stay extra special.
Do you offer allergy-friendly or pet-free units?
Yes, Astra Whale is a completely animal-free concept. On Astra Village there are only a limited number rorbuer that are open to pets – the remaining units are kept strictly pet-free and prepared to our highest cleaning standards. Please state any allergy requirements when booking and we will ensure you get the unit that best suits you.
Are pets allowed?
Dogs are welcome in a limited number of dedicated rorbuer at Astra Village , for an additional charge of NOK 500 per stay. Please state that you are traveling with a pet when booking, and we will reserve the correct unit for you.
Pets are not allowed on Astra Whale .
Are you child friendly and do you offer a cot and high chair?
Yes, we welcome families with children. A cot and high chair are available at no extra cost - please state this when booking and we will make sure everything is ready for your arrival.
What are the rules for smoking?
Astra is a non-smoking area. Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are not permitted indoors or in the common areas. This is out of consideration for other guests and to preserve our unique, historic wooden buildings.
Is Astra adapted for people with disabilities?
Astra Village consists of authentic, historical rorbuer from the early 20th century. The buildings' original architecture with narrow doors, high thresholds and uneven surfaces outdoors may present challenges for guests with reduced mobility. Please contact us directly before booking so that we can find the unit that best suits your needs.
Are towels and linens included?
Yes. Towels and linens are included in the stay.
We do not offer daily cleaning, but if you need new towels or new bedding during your stay, we are happy to help you.
Do you offer laundry and dry cleaning services?
Rorbuer are not equipped with washing machines. Please contact reception and we will help you with laundry as needed.
Do the fishermen's cabins have wood-burning stoves?
Some of our historical rorbuer has a wood-burning stove. For safety reasons, these are sealed and unfortunately cannot be used.

What experiences can I have during a stay at Astra Village & Astra Whale ?

Can you help me book activities?
Yes. Contact reception and we will help you plan your stay – from sea eagle safaris and kayaking trips to guided mountain hikes and northern lights tours.
When is the best time to experience the Northern Lights?
The Northern Lights season normally lasts from September to April. The reception is happy to help with tips on the best places and conditions to experience the Northern Lights. We also recommend our guided Northern Lights tours.
